Introduction
Are you eager to further develop your mechanical expertise, to be part of the state-of-the art technology innovation and multiple engineering disciplines? If so, then the job of Industrial automation design architect could be the perfect next step in your career.
Department information
Within the department Technology & Development (T&D) is responsible for the specification, design and engineering of high tech/precision modules, professional products and capital intensive equipment. The department consists of a number of competence groups, such as Mechanics, Mechatronics, Electronics, Software and Project management. In multi-disciplinary project teams we specify, design, develop and qualify the professional products for our customers. VDL ETG sources, produces and supplies qualified products to our customers.
Function
As an Industrial automation design architect you are responsible for the architecture, design, implementation and maintenance of the software for complex modules/machines. Client creates high tech modules/machines, the Flow department focuses on high precision production tools for large area printed electronics such as flexible solar cells and OLED’s. Industrial automation design engineers facing several aspects of industrial machine control such as servo drives, PLC control, HMI and MES. Configuration management is used to provide maximum commonality between different modules/machine types.
In close cooperation with colleagues from other disciplines and strategic customer (mechanics, mechatronics, and electronics) the industrial automation design architect is a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The architect is also responsible for testing and implementation of the control system in the field and plays an important role in the commissioning of the machine by the customer.
